How it works:
Once a /24 has been announced to Voxility, our DDoS protection platform has 2 scrubbing profiles available per IP:
- "sensor" > detects and redirects the traffic only when an attack is detected. NB this is the default mode
- "always on" > traffic is always filtered, good for servers that are very sensitive to abrupt load of traffic, but we do not recommend this status unless is deemed necessary.
For both profiles you can ask us to enable/disable layer 7 filtering.
Each /32 can have its scrubbing profile changed by
1. A request to change the status to our technical services team by email support@tate92.com
2. By the user when using the Voxility API
How Sensor mode works?
If there is no attack detected targeting your IP address, the traffic flows directly to your equipment as in normal mode of operation, bypassing our mitigation engines.
Voxility has sensors to detect attacks everywhere in the network. When a suspicious pattern is detected, traffic toward that IP is redirected for mitigation in the same data center Security Cloud.
The network sensors detects instantly when an attack occurs and redirects traffic from the affected IP to the mitigation cloud.
Redirection stops within minutes after the attack ends.
How “Always on” mode works?
Instead of permitting traffic to flow directly towards your server, this protection mode permanently applies the anti-DDoS filters. Your traffic flows permanently through the Voxility Security Cloud as in the scheme above.
